EISA PEC 2024: Bridging Global Gaps
The 17th EISA PEC: Shaping International Relations in the Heart of Lille
Event: 17th EISA Pan-European Conference on International Relations
Dates: 27 – 31 August 2024
Destination: Lille, France
Venue: Université Catholique de Lille
From August 27 to August 31, 2024, we had the pleasure of organizing the 17th EISA Pan-European Conference on International Relations (PEC), hosted at the Université Catholique de Lille. This year’s conference, the first to take place in France, marked a milestone for EISA and the international relations community. With the theme “Searching for International Relations: Spaces, Styles, Struggles,” we worked alongside EISA to create an inclusive, innovative space that brought fresh perspectives on international relations to over 1,200 participants.
Our collaboration with EISA began in 2016, and we’ve been honored to support the association’s mission ever since. Our first major involvement came at the 12th EISA PEC in Prague in 2018, and from that point forward, we’ve been involved in organizing each PEC, including the virtual editions in 2020 and 2021. This long-term partnership has allowed us to help shape PEC into one of the leading academic conferences on international relations in Europe, and PEC 2024 in Lille was no exception.
The 17th PEC brought together a diverse range of scholars from all over the world, creating a vibrant space for the exchange of ideas. Over the course of five days, participants engaged in a variety of thematic sections, plenary sessions, and workshops, each designed to spark discussion on the evolving nature of international relations. From early-career workshops to high-profile plenaries featuring leading experts, the event offered something for everyone.

To further enhance the experience for participants, we also introduced the PEC 2024 mobile app, available on both the AppStore and Google Play. This app allowed attendees to easily navigate the program, save favorite sessions, and receive live updates, ensuring a smooth and engaging conference experience.
We will soon be launching a brand-new website – stay tuned!
:Discovering Lille and Beyond: Our Team’s Experience
Beyond the academic program, we took advantage of the opportunity to explore Lille and the surrounding region. Whether enjoying the vibrant streets of Paris, visiting charming nearby towns, or savoring local cuisine during evening dinners in Lille, these experiences added a special touch to the conference for our organizing team. It’s moments like these that make organizing such events all the more rewarding, as we build connections not only professionally, but personally.

We would like to thank EISA, its President Beste İşleyen, and the entire organizing committee for their trust and collaboration. Most importantly, we thank the delegates, whose passion and participation made this year’s conference a success.
